Welcome to St Kilda Primary

Travelling safely to school and being safe at school.

This week we had a visitor from the CoPP talking to everyone about how we can travel safely in a sustainable way to school. It was good to be reminded about the importance of active travel, both for our health and our environment. Next year the Year 4 children are going to help us identify Active Pathways in our neighbourhood to help us find the best and safest way to school.

Our school nurse, Nurse Nicole, talked to everyone about the importance of asthma and anaphylaxis management plans. Please take the time between now and next year to visit your doctor and ask them to help you fill out a plan. You will then need to bring this form plus the required medication (asthma medication or an epipen) into school clearly labelled. Nurse Nicole will meet with you and fill out a school based plan and check that the medication you are leaving at school is the correct and up to date type. The medication, along with the plan, will be stored in our Sick Bay and Nurse Nicole will remind you when it needs to be replaced. Even if your child has only mild asthma we strongly recommend that you bring a plan and a puffer into school, just in case there is an emergency. If you have any questions please pop into school and see Nurse Nicole for more information. Her hours our Tuesday to Thursday from 9.15 – 3.15.

We would just like to thank everyone who came along to our sessions this year. We have had lots of fun getting to know you and your lovely children! We are looking forward to a wonderful 7 years (at least) together. Watch out for the Christmas card coming to your home towards the end of December letting you know who your child’s class teacher will be next year.

Have a very happy holidays and a wonderful New Year and we will see you all bright and early on Tuesday 31st January. Look for the dot near the Manabi Building that matches your child’s teacher’s name, eg PJ (means Prep Jackson – not a real name!) and help your child line up there. There will be lots of people around to help and don’t forget we will have a morning tea and tissues in the staffroom for all our Prep parents after drop off!
