It’s painting season

For most year levels first term in the Art room means understanding the colour wheel and mixing colours. Each year we build on our previous knowledge.

The Preps are busy exploring all the different drawing equipment in the room before they will get busy mixing paint and creating some new colours.

Year 1 is exploring a simple colour wheel.

Year 2 is looking at what makes a colour ‘warm’ or ‘cool’ .

Year 3 is exploring what happens when we add white or black to colours to create tints and shades.

Year 4 is expanding their knowledge by creating a complex colour.

Our Year 5s and 6s are looking at ratios and perspectives and will be focusing on their drawing skills.

Please remember that painting and cleaning up can be a messy job. While students must wear a smock and we try to clean up any paint mishaps as soon as possible, sometimes we might miss a bit. I would recommend that your child wears their older uniform to Art during painting season.
