Masters of Puppetry

From Finger puppets to the Wayang Kulit, our Year 1 to 6 students have been exploring the various styles of puppetry.

In this integrated Arts unit, students have been designing and making their puppets in Visual Arts. These are then going to be used to perform short plays that students have been creating in Performing Arts.  Students are in the midst of rehearsing their fabulous puppet plays which will be performed later this term.

Year 1 are using Reader’s Theatre scripts of classic Fairytales for their Finger Puppet plays.

Year 2 are also using Reader’s Theatre scripts for their Shadow Puppet performances.img_2816 img_2826 Year 3 are exploring Marionette puppets. They are writing their own plays around the theme of good vs. evil.

Year 4 are focusing on Bunraku puppets, one of the three famous styles of Japanese Theatre.

Year 5 and 6 are writing their own plays for their Wayang Kulit performances.
