Term 3 Visual Arts

This term is all about getting things ready for the Art Show. Our student Art Show ‘The Marvelous Menagerie’ explores animals in all their magnificent shapes and forms. Be sure to mark September 11-12th in your diary and keep your eyes and ears open for how you can become involved and lend a hand.

Here is a quick outline of what is going on in the Visual Arts room this term.

Prep is exploring sculpture using clay and plasticine. They will also be starting their textile unit exploring sewing.

Yr 1 is finishing off their focus on sculpture before their major focus on textiles and sewing.

Yr 2 is continuing with their textiles unit including  different types of weaving.

Yr 3 will be doing some clay work and sculpture before extending their understanding of weaving.

Yr 4 will be having a major focus on textiles, designing and sewing their own dragonfly sculpture.

Yr 5 is focussing on sculpture. Using plaster as well as clay.

Yr 6 will also be investigating sculpture.

Also keep an eye on the large noticeboard near the office. It is soon to be updated with a photography project coordinated by the Yr 5s.
