Last week was ‘Kindness Week’ at SKPS and the Grade 4 students were in charge of spreading kindness across the school!
Throughout the year we have had a focus on how we interact and care for others and ourselves. We have been working on developing a deeper understanding of the power we have to impact others positively through our actions and words.
We have done a range of activities, like; writing biographies on people who have faced adversity in their lives (and how they dealt with the adversity), collected data across the school about issues people are having in the playground and strategies they have to deal with them, planned and run ‘RUOK? Day’ at SKPS and much, much more!!! (Just ask any Grade 4 and they can tell you all about it!).
We have been working hard all term on our Kindness Week Project. We drafted, revised, edited and eventually published a Kindness Recipe book! It was so cool. We thought “what better to go with a recipe book, than a …. Cupcake stall!!!
So…. On the 14th of October we (Millie and Rebecca from 4G) set up a cupcake stall on the canteen steps. We made a target, hoping to raise $300 to donate to the Make a Wish Foundation. With the help of our friend Ivy and teacher Miss Gannon we baked over 150 cupcakes! On the day we sold out. Yesterday we counted the money, we were so amazed that we raised $317!!! We were sooo happy! We hope to do this again so we can help Make a Wish or other charities. We will always be happy to help the less fortunate and we hope everyone else does too.
Thank you to everyone for supporting us and buying a cupcake!
