More than 10,000 people are feared dead after the fiercest typhoon ever recorded laid waste to parts of the Philippines. On Friday of last week, winds of up to 315 km/h called ‘Typhoon Haiyan’ , hit the Philippines. This is the world’s strongest tropical cyclone, Hurricane Camille hit the US in 1969 with 305 km/h winds.
Australia has donated $10m worth of emergency relief for sleeping mats, blankets, mosquito nets, water containers and medical kits, but it is hardly enough.
On Friday the 15th November, St Kilda Primary School is holding a free dress day to raise money for the people of the Philippines. Please bring a gold coin donation to help them out.
Thank you Eliza, Dylan, Tracy and Rosalie and Lia (Community Captains)
