Today thirty of our Year 5 students participated in a PLAY Leadership Program.
The program is designed to build student resilience by enhancing life skills, strengthening peer connection and creating healthier relationships. As our Year 5 students prepare to transition into their final year of primary school this student led program is designed to empower the group to flourish in their leadership roles next year.
Students trained in being awesome role models, learnt a bucket load of games and skills and then spent the afternoon trying their new skills out with some Grade 1s.
This program was a direct response to a resilience survey students did earlier in the year which was conducted by Resilient Youth. We were lucky enough to receive a grant from the City of Port Phillip and Student Focused Youth Services to run this program. Students who were interested completed an application form earlier this term and we were overwhelmed by the response.
What an exciting opportunity for all involved.
